The Circle of Life

Samples for Schools was inspired by an opportunity spotted by meat wholesaler Dan Clay, which ultimately led to the establishment of our fully independent business in 2018. As livestock was being processed for the food industry, much of the discarded offal went to waste.

Using every suitable organ of the livestock enabled us to establish a sustainable, ethical extension to our original business, and helps to support students learning about the miracle of life.

Meet the key members of our friendly and knowledgeable team. All are dedicated to bringing you the best dissection samples and a hassle-free service to help you inspire and educate your students.

Dan Clay

Dan has meat in his bones as both parents were both heavily involved in the meat trade. Despite his best efforts, Dan successfully completed his education with a Degree in Business Studies, and inevitably ended up taking over the family meat wholesaling business. There, he bumped into some bleary-eyed biology teachers who regularly stopped by before the bell sounded for the start of school.

A Google search revealed very little, and explained why these educators sought out a local meat trader to provide samples for lab dissection. Samples for Schools was created very shortly afterwards and the rest, as they say…

Cameron Robinson

Having established a successful career in the corporate world, Cameron took the leap and became part of the Samples for Schools team in 2016. He helped to build the business in the early days, and is the primary contact for many clients. Cameron is now well known in the education sector, representing Samples for Schools at many educational events and exhibitions.

Out of the office Cameron keeps himself fit, enjoys travelling and is an accomplished cook. He’s been described as slightly peppery, full of energy and machine washable!

Jade Lavender

Jade earned her stripes and honed her customer relations skills in the retail sector. Even a busy work schedule couldn’t dampen her fascination for all things scientific, and a desire to keep on learning and developing. A move to SfS ticked all the boxes for Jade, where she learns from (and teaches) the rest of the team. She also looks after our national exhibition and event programme.

Mum to two beautiful young girls, Jade still finds time to get out in the fresh air, watch nature programmes and cooks healthy feasts for her hungry family.

Ruby

Ruby

Ruby may have Staffie DNA, but somehow adopted the personality of a sloth in early puppyhood.

Not the ideal attributes for ‘Head of Security’, but the shortlist was short, so she got the job.
